A late finish yesterday, an early morning meeting today and not much sleep the night before.
The day after a big school event always leaves me drained and this particular morning seemed drag on. The kids weren’t focused and transitions seemed to be taking forever. From my perspective morning tea couldn’t come soon enough.
Realised it wasn’t them, it was me. Not giving time, not giving space. As I ventured back to the classroom, I breathed and tried to relax. Stop rushing, be present.
Every day we make a choice to present in the classrooms we teach, not just physically there but also mentally as well. It can be all too easy to blame in education. What’s hard is staying positive, even when you are tired. But the results of being patient are well worth it.
