How often do we feed passions in schools?

The first week of school holidays has been spent meandering through Paris. A lot of people come for the architecture and the shopping.

Me?

I came for the food.

Alongside the consumption of food, I do love to cook. One of my favourite things to do in a new country is a cooking class. Often these involve visiting markets as well as the preparation of dish. So it was natural that upon arriving in Paris I would be channelling my inner Julia Child.

Yet how often are students and for that matter teachers given an opportunity to share their passions? Often these passions are relegated to things we do after school.

What if we spent more time on developing these passions?

What would school look like?
