Why do we need to learn to write?

“But why do I need to learn to write when I can just use the voice input?”

At the moment the world is still in print. We still use written word as a way to communicate.

Will it always be that way?

I’m not so sure.

I distinctly remembering asking why we needed to do maths by hand when I could just use a calculator. That question never really was answered.

I’m not sure I answered this young child’s query particularly well. But I did know this child loves to read.

“To be able to read a story, someone must first write it. Words are a powerful way to send all our thoughts and feelings into the world.”
